Ferranti LRMTS (Laser Ranger and Marked Target Seeker) equipment is to be fitted in a development Harrier early 1973 for full testing and integration with the inertial navigation and attack systems (INAS), and the system will probably be adopted as a retrofit on all RAF Harriers. An aerodynamic test bed for the new nose shape is illustrated here.
The US Army has selected Sikorsky and Boeing-Vertol to build prototypes of their UTTAS helicopter designs, for a competitive fly-off in 1975. An artist's impression illustrates the Sikorsky S-70.
First flight of the Vought YA-7H Corsair II two-seat instrument and combat trainer was made on 29 August 1972.
