Alan Bennett’s photographs of surviving relics from Manfred von Richthofen’s Fokker Triplane 425/17, housed at the Canadian Military Institute. The pictures above and right show the seven rivet holes - not "bullet holes"- and their location in the back of the seat. Below, remains of the wingtip of the starboard upper main-plane.

The Preservation profile on Auster J/1 Autocrat ZK-AUX brought back many memories of days at Bowling Green Lane around the time that Temple Press bought G-AERO. I was on the editorial staff there throughout the time the Autocrat was the company “hack” - writing for The Aeroplane Spotter until mid-1948 and thereafter for The Aeroplane. It is interesting to identify the five occupants of G-AERO depicted by Chris Wren in his Oddentification cartoon (although, of course, the Autocrat could only carry three - two side-by-side with dual controls and an uncomfortable little seat athwartships in the rear of the cabin).
