The hazards of sea fog. Whilst moored off Calshot in February 1949, Sunderland GR V SZ576 was struck by a passing vessel, first on the starboard tailplane, middle, and then on the wing, left and right. Paint on the bows of the offending ship gave the game away when SIB officers searched Southampton docks for the culprit.
