  • RAF St Athan Historic Aircraft Collection curator Wg Cdr Paul Brindley, who retired from the RAF on December 16, 1988, doing what St Athan has been famous for under his direction: running-up a vintage aero-engine for the benefit of visitors, in this case the Mitsubishi Kinsei 62 of the museum's Kawasaki Ki-100. Brindley has been in charge of the collection since September 1983, and as well as bringing many rare engines back to life has overseen the total restoration of several aircraft including Fairey Battle 5343, which is nearing completion. Sadly, the collection is now being dispersed as an MoD economy measure.
