The Kamov Helix illustrated is now being introduced into Soviet Naval Air Force service as a successor to the Hormone in the ASW role. The photograph was taken during its initial deployment from the guided missile destroyer Udaloy witnessed by western observers during last September's exercise Zapad-81.
