FIRST VIEW of the Convair F-106A Delta Dart all-weather interceptor. Differences between the 106A and 102 are the blunt-tipped fin, re-positioned air intakes and larger overall dimensions. Two prototypes, 6451 and 6452, are currently flying. The second production Convair F-106A Delta Dart, photographed during a flight over the Mojave Desert, California in the late Fifties. The F-106 was developed from the F-102 Delta Dagger of 1953, re-engined with a Pratt & Whitney J75 in place of the F-102's J57.
