A.Brookes - Indian Air Force At 75 /Military/
This heavily armed Mi-35 Hind was photographed last year at Hindan AFS, where it exercised with IAF Mi-17s. In addition to its chin-mounted 12.7mm Gatling-type gun, it is carrying unguided rockets and gun pods on the stub wings.
To mark the 75th anniversary of the Indian Air Force, two Su-30MKIs were given special paint schemes. They both took part in the sixth Aero India aerospace exhibition at Yelahanka Air Force Station, Bangalore, in February this year.
Although the French and British Jaguars have been retired, it remains in production at the HAL factory in Bangalore. Among the new equipment carried by the aircraft now being delivered to the IAF is the DABIN (Display Attack Ranging Inertial Navigation) II and an Elta self protection jammer in place of one of the internal guns. Note the missile-warning receiver antennae fairings on the nose of JS210.
Mirage 2000H KF130 of 1 Sqn during Exercise Baruda, held at Gwalior AFB in February 2003. It was the first time the two countries had exercised together, and involved IAF Mirage 2000Hs and French Air Force Mirage 2000-5s. Note the Elta jamming pod under the port wing.
After a rather protracted initial development, the Tejas flight test programme is now gaining momentum. Seen here is KH2005/'PV-3', the third prototype aircraft. It is equipped with a glass cockpit incorporating the production standard avionics.
Embraer EMB.135BJ Legacy K3603, seen here with its undercarriage retracting as it takes off from Yelahanka Air Force Station, is one of five of the type ordered by the IAF. This aircraft is equipped for VIP service.
