Seen landing at Duxford on August 20, 1977, is Concorde 001, G-AXDN, the first pre-production model and the second to be assembled at Filton. It was first flown on December 17, 1971, and was used for rigorous testing over the following four years. The aircraft was presented to the Duxford Aviation Society for preservation and is currently on display there.

One of the most popular aircraft from the passenger's point of view was the VC 10. Trubshaw was co-pilot to Jock Bryce when the prototype VC 10, G-ARTA, took to the air for the first time on June 29, 1962, from Brooklands. It was to be nearly another two years before the type entered service with BOAC on the African, Middle East and Far East routes.
The Rolls-Royce Tay powered Vickers Viscount 663, VX217/G-AHRG being demonstrated at the 1950 SBAC show at Farnborough. Later it was used to develop the power controls for the Vickers Valiant.

Viking I VL246 of the King's Flight takes off from snow-covered Wisley in 1947. In December 1958 this aircraft was registered G-APOP and later flew with Channel Airways.
