    RICHARD PAVER photographed Martin Willing’s North American Fennec - the French combat version of the Trojan trainer - over Gransden on May 2, 1999. The aircraft was being flown by its owner, who relates the history of the type and of his own example, N14113.

  • These Armee de I’Air Fennecs lined up in the snow still carry their original USAF identities as well as their French production numbers. The nearest, “No 44”, began life as T-28A 51-3529.

  • North American T-28A Trojan 49-1571, from the first production batch for the USAF, represents the earliest form of the type. It proved less satisfactory as a primary trainer than had initially been hoped.

  • This US Navy T-28B, 137724, came from the first production batch, ordered after the Navy had evaluated two T-28As. The later T-28C differed in having an arrester hook for dummy deck approach and landing training.
