British World Airlines’ sole BAe 146-300, G-BTZN, is operated primarily in support of a Ministry of Defence contract, but is used for other work when not required for the German flights. BWA has no immediate plans to increase the number of this type in the fleet, so ’ZN will remain with the airline into 1997.

Viscounts G-CSZB and G-AOHM on a typically rain-swept apron at Sumburgh in February 1996. Zulu Bravo will have used up all of its remaining life by the time of its next major overhaul and will be scrapped; Hotel Mike will have sufficient flying hours to continue in service through 1997 and will be converted to a freighter for Parcel Force.

British World Airlines took delivery of its first ATR-72-210 at Southend Airport on March 29, 1996. It has been appropriately named Shetland Lady and is registered G-OILA. A second ATR-72 has been ordered for delivery in May.
