The USAF took delivery of some 60 KC-10A aircraft, all of which remain in service, whilst a conversion of the civil DC-10 has also now joined the Royal Netherlands Air Force as a similar tanker/transport.

The Il-78M Midas is the tanker version of the Il-76 and features two underwing refuelling pods plus a third pylon-mounted on the port side of the rear fuselage. Some 20 of this variant are reportedly in service with the Russian Air Force at Engels.

US Army/California ArNG AVCRAD C-23B Sherpa 88-1864 from Fresno, California, seen at Castle AFB on October 9, 1994. Having previously seen service with the USAF, the US Army has now become the major military operator of the Sherpa and is currently in the process of acquiring further examples through ‘de-conversion’ of civilian Shorts 360s.
