G-AIDO c/n 6306 was the second prototype Gemini and the first to be designated 1A. This revealing shot shows it with the auxiliary aerofoil flaps lowered and undercarriage down on the approach to land in January 1947.
G-AIDO, the second Gemini registered, was designated 1A; it had a retractable undercarriage and oval-shaped rear cabin windows.

G-AIDO c/n 6306 as fitted with a dummy nose engine to evaluate the effects on performance with a view to using it as a test bed. This could not be a mock-up of the Miles engine which was to be an 8-cyl horizontally-opposed type while only an inverted in-line type could fit this installation.

G-AIDO with the port engine stopped makes a low-level flypast for the press 1.47. The 100 hp Cirrus Minor 2 engines of the Gemini 1A did not provide enough power to do much more than "stretch the glide" on one engine. Here with only the pilot on board its nose-low position indicates high speed developed in a shallow dive to keep it going during a restart.
