Still wearing its German crosses in July 1945, M14 stands opposite the control tower at Lyon-Bron. The work of CRRT 83 has been finished, and soon the aircraft will be examined by the French engineers from Arsenal, who are building the VB-10 at nearby Villeurbanne.

Dornier Do 335 M14 "RP+UQ" was discovered by French soldiers on April 27, 1945, in a dispersal revetment at Mengen where it had been undergoing maintenance. The two men on the right are carrying the vertical fin, with swastika visible. On the left is Prof Claudius Dornier's personal BMW, "borrowed" by Colonel Badre.

It is spring 1946, and No 1 is now painted in standard French khaki green. The fuselage roundel is now bigger and there is only one fin flash; later another was applied to the lower fin.

Repair work took a long time in the SNCASO workshops at Suresnes. It is winter 1945, and M14 is now in an overall light grey scheme, and marked "Do 335 No 1". The new starboard wing and undercarriage leg have been installed. Behind the Dornier an SO 90 light transport is under construction.

A close-up of the cockpit of No 1. The instrument panel is original, but the German Revi EZ 42 gunsight has been replaced by two French instruments with white dials. On the starboard console are the circuit breakers, with French annotations.

Just after Badre's accident on August 8, 1945. Just visible between the tail of M14 and the small trailer are the remains of B-26 No 65 of the Groupe Gascogne, which crash-landed on July 17 that year.
