The aircraft had been rescued by the Historic Aircraft Preservation Society after use as an instructional airframe at Cranfield College of Aeronautics.

Регистрационный номер: KD431 [5] Goodyear FG-1D Corsair IV KD431 in the Fleet Air Arm Museum’s restoration workshops at Yeovilton last November. Rubbing-down in key areas of the accumulated layers of paint has revealed much about the aircraft’s previous markings and colour schemes. When this picture was taken the fuselage markings were about to receive further detailed attention.

Регистрационный номер: KD431 [5] Seen in February 2001, during the early stages of its painstaking restoration, KD431 is still essentially complete but minus its mainwheels. The area of the enlarged serial numerals “431” on the cowling has been delineated in white.
