Despite the howl emitted by the direct-drive Pratt and Whitney Wasp engine, the Harvard is establishing itself as a very useful type. Canada is using similar equipment and Australia has the general purpose Wirraway, also evolved from the same basic design. France has a lower-powered version with the Wright Whirlwind engine.
