Регистрационный номер: G-ALBR [2], RH378 [2] After a few months in storage at Lichfield, RH378 became Messenger 4A G-ALBR, still carrying the Army badge and the Field Marshal's insignia but with the other military markings removed. It lasted only ten months before crashing on take-off from Elstree, where it is seen in this photo.

Active for 17 years, and seen here at a flying function with its crew as spectators, it was sadly neglected and its remains are thought to be for sale in Spain.

A three-seater, the airframe was a Mk.I with square rear windows but the engine was a 155hp Cirrus Major III with which it became the Blackburn testbed for the 2A installation.

An inside view of a Messenger I with both side doors open, hinged at the top. This shows the seating and the striking panoramic view obtainable from the large areas of transparency in the hood. The rear seat occupant's unobstructed view through the large square rear windows of the military Messenger is apparent.
