7.11.60 Fairchild F.27 Friendship HC-ADV c/n 1 of Aerovias Ecuatorianas SA on Guayaquil to Quito service crashed into volcanic mountain Atacazo Cerro 20 miles south of Quito and destroyed. 29.9.60 Viscount 739B SU-AKW c/n 427 of Misrair United Arab Airlines en route Geneva - Rome - Cairo missing with Capt Raouf, 5 crew and 17 passengers on board. 26.9.60 Austrian Airlines Viscount 837 OE-LAF "Josef Haydn" c/n 437 hit trees and crashed about seven miles from Moscow-Sheremetievo Airport when making second approach in poor weather. Регистрационный номер: G-ALDC Falcon Airways Hermes G-ALDC nose-down on the London-Southend railway line being liberally doused in foam after aquaplaning off the runway when landing at Southend on 9.10.60.
9.10.60 Handley Page Hermes IV G-ALDC, c/n HP.81/4 "James Robertson Justice" of Falcon Airways aquaplaned on landing in rain at Southend Airport from Majorca at 1248 and the aircraft overran onto the main London - Southend railway line. Capt Norman Wilkinson, 5 crew and 71 Skytours passengers on board suffered no serious injuries and there was no fire. The Hermes was raised and parked nearby in full view until broken up in March 1962.
