A close-up of the fuselage side of a BR.20 of the 3 Squadriglia, featuring the emblem of the unit 'La Torbida'. The dorsal turret shows the unusual presence of a Breda Av. Modello SAFAT 12.7 mm gun: the preferred option was the installation of Caproni Lanciani 'Delta E' turret with an Isotta-Fraschini 'Scotti weapon of the same calibre. Although the 'preferred option', the weapon was poor quality and had a poor rate of fire, particularly at altitude.

FIAT BR.20 of the 8 Squadriglia [25° Gruppo - 7° Stormo B.T.] flying over the foothills of the Alps during the early days of the war. The aircraft retain the tricolour on the rudder, replaced shortly after by the 'Croce Sabauda'.
