Opening a 5-hour flying programme at R.A.F. Abingdon on 13th September 1980 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Britain was the R.A.F.'s premier aerobatic team, the "Red Arrows". Here two of the team's Hawks are seen at a critical point during their display.

Superb mirror-formation flying by two Northrop T-38s of the U.S.A.F.'s "Thunderbirds" team. This was one of the highlights at the display held at Westover AFB, Massachusetts, on 18th-19th June 1980 to celebrate the base's 40th anniversary. Originally a bomber training base, Westover today houses the 439th TAW, U.S.A.F. Reserve, equipped with Fairchild C-123 Providers and Lockheed C-130 Hercules.
