First of ninety Aerospatiale SA.366G Dauphin IIs for the U.S. Coast Guard, c/n. 6002, temporarily F-WZJT, made its first flight at Marignane on 23rd July 1980. In U.S.C.G. service the type will be known as the HH-65A Dolphin.

First of seventeen Westland Sea King HAS.5s for the Royal Navy, XZ916 was handed over at Yeovil on 2nd October 1980. Note revised shape of dorsal radome.
The Sea King is now the standard SAR type in use. This is the HAS.5 version.

First of fifteen McDonnell Douglas DC-9 Super 80s for Swissair, HB-INC "Thurgau", seen at Zurich with one of the airline's DC-9-32s, was delivered on 12th September 1980 and put into service on the London-Zurich route on 5th October; it seats 135 passengers. Austrian Airlines took delivery of their first Super 80 (eight ordered) on 3rd October.

First Swedish A.F. unit to convert to the SAAB JA 37 fighter version of the Viggen is F 13 Wing at Norrkoping, seven of whose fighters are seen here. Also now converting to JA 37s is F 17 Wing at Ronneby in southern Sweden
