The Crawford 'Metal Plane' showing the registration X5563 on the tail. These 76 year-old photographs mean that you can see what it looked like but detail is lacking.

With makeshift chocks the Metal Plane is parked out ready to fly. Unfortunately it appears that no in-flight photographs were taken of this purely experimental aircraft but from this angle you can readily imagine it formating on your tail.

Parasol wing, 9-cylinder engine, wide track undercarriage with high pressure tyres.
The Crawford Metal Plane in Head-on-View looks quite elegant with the possible exception of the undercarriage, but strange for the period was the Gnome rotary engine.

Jane's AWA showed only this photo of the Crawford 65 but they cut off the shadow which shows that it is only just airborne. Even with the enormous wheel fairings it still looks smart with the cantilever wing and it is a pity that it could not be developed.

At first glance looking like the complete Crawford 65, close examination shows that the mainplanes and propeller are not yet fitted. The tail shows registration X12207. The ends of the stub wings supporting the undercarriage have large streamlined fairings which act as wheel spats and also contain landing lights.
