A Luftwaffe officer inspects a line of Vichy Air Force aircraft prior to their disposal. The aircraft are, from left to right, Potez 63.11 reconnaissance aircraft, two Morane 230s and a Dewoitine D.520 fighter.
A Dornier Do 217E-4 of KG 2 is seen alongside an early FW 190 at Toulouse.
French mechanics join hands to swing the propeller of a Morane-Saulnier M-S 406 fighter. By the outbreak of war the French Air Force had received only about half of the 1,080 M-S 405/406s ordered due to delays with the supply of Hispano 12Y engines. After the collapse of France in 1942 many captured M-S 406s were sent for service in the Croatian Air Force.
Luftwaffe groundcrew manhandle a KG2 Dornier Do 217 into position after occupation of Toulouse airfield.
A line-up of Vichy aircraft at Toulouse under scrutiny of the new German occupants. In the foreground is a LeO 451 bomber with two Caudron C445s in the background. The Liore et Olivier 451, though designed in 1936, appeared too late for service in World War Two. Those aircraft captured by the Germans were stripped of armament and used as transports.
