Royal Marine Commandos being flown in a Sycamore while a Dragonfly picks up cargo from the bow of a landing craft. These helicopters were used in Run Aground VII, an exercise carried out in May 1956 for the benefit of Staff College students, at Eastney Reach, Portsmouth.

A Royal Navy Whirlwind flying over a mothballed fleet of cruisers, frigates and minesweepers moored near Portsmouth on July 30, 1989. The photograph was taken during a flypast over Lee-on-Solent on the occasion of HM The Queen's presentation of a Colour to the Fleet Air Arm at that station.

During a press demonstration on August 30, 1955 with a 22 Sqn Whirlwind things went dramatically wrong when the engine of XJ436 cut. The crew was quickly fished out of the water but the S.55 went to the bottom.
