Airspeed A.S.4 Ferry prototype G-ABSI Youth of Britain II joyriding with Cobham's National Aviation Displays Ltd at Skipton on June 21, 1932. The ten-passenger wooden biplane was powered by three 120 h.p. Gipsy engines and entered service with Cobham in April 1932.

A delightful photograph of Surrey Flying Services Avro 536 G-EBOF plying its trade at Great Yarmouth in 1928. The 536 had a fuselage 9in wider than the standard Avro 504K in order to accommodate four passengers.

Comper Swift G-ABPY, built in 1931 and first owned by National Aviation Day Ltd, was fitted with a radio and performed “request” aerobatics under direction from the crowds. Following periods with several UK owners, the Swift was sold to Australia in December 1938 and became VH-UZB. It is seen here at Skipton on June 21, 1932.

Pictured at Sherburn-in-Elmet in 1928 or 1929 is smart D.H.60G Gipsy Moth G-AACL, featuring coupe cockpit and streamlined headrest. On April 17, 1929, 'CL was lost in the English Channel.
