Air Vice-Marshal Bouchier, BCAIR, at Haneda Airport, Tokyo in 1947. Behind may be seen his Dakota IV, KN547. This aircraft was delivered to the RAF early in 1945 and served with Nos 238, 48, 52 and 110 Sqns in addition to service with the Iwakuni Station Flight and the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces - Japan, when this photograph was probably taken. The Dakota finished its Service career with the Military Assistance Aircraft Group in September 1954.

A Chinese National Airways DC-4 over Hong Kong Bay in November 1947. In the bay are Sunderlands of 88 Sqn, which was equipped with GR.5s from September 1946 until 1954. The squadron used them for shipping and anti-piracy patrols.

88 Squadron Sunderland GR.5 RN297 beached for servicing at RAF Kai Tak in November 1947. Later this squadron was to fly the RAF’s first operational sorties of the Korean War.
