WD280 in a hangar at RAAF Laverton. In the background are de Havilland Vampires and a CAC Winjeel, one of which was specially calibrated and flown in formation with the Avro on low-speed tests.

WD280 nestling amongst the flowerpots in Geoffrey Mallett’s garden at Williamstown in December 1988. Mallett built a shelter to protect the forward section from the elements.

WD280 in Geoffrey Mallett’s garden soon after its delivery there in 1967. The aircraft had to be hoisted in by crane, with just inches to spare.

WD280 undergoing thrust calibration tests at RAAF Laverton. The aircraft was suspended from a crane, with the engine thrust being transmitted and measured via a spaceframe fixed to the anti-spin parachute attachment.
