The Air Zoo’s Hispano Buchon is pleasingly painted in an early 1960s Spanish Air Force scheme.

Spotless and well-lit, the main display hangar compares favourably with those of many national collections. Sue Parish’s P-40N NL222SU (in the foreground) was one of the first exhibits, its sharkmouth markings emphatically putting the Zoo into Air Zoo.

This Douglas SBD Dauntless, seen in the museum's restoration shop, was salvaged from Lake Michigan and is on loan from the Museum of Naval Aviation.

This Grumman F9F-8T Cougar is on loan from the Marine Corps Air Ground Museum in Virginia. One of the type’s claims to fame is that it was used for the first demonstration (at 120 m.p.h.) of the Martin-Baker ground-level ejection seat, fired from the aft cockpit of a Cougar on August 28, 1957, by Flt Lt Sydney Hughes RAF.
