Upgraded Su-27SM Flanker B RF-95251 '73 Red' carrying four Vympel R-73 infrared-guided short range air-to-air missiles. The aircraft is seen during an intercept in international airspace near the Baltic States by a Belgian F-16.
At times, Russian and Belgian pilots approach a little closer to read each other's registration numbers or to take photos of their counterparts' aircraft.
Su-35C Flanker E fighters RF-81745 '57 Red’ and RF-81742 '54 Red' were intercepted by Belgian F-16s on November 8, 2017. The two fighters were delivered to Besovets Air Base (Petrozavodsk Airport) near Lake Onega in Karelia, some 650km (350nm) northeast of Tallin.
Sukhoi Su-27UB Flanker C RF-33757 '102 Red' was intercepted in international airspace over the Baltic Sea by a pair of Belgian F-16s on September 5, 2017, the very same day the Belgian detachment took over responsibilities as the augmenting force of the Enhanced Air Policing Mission at Amari Air Base, Estonia.

The QRA shelters at Amari are clean, neat and offer sufficient space for all types of fighter aircraft.
The standard weapon payload comprises a pair of AIM-9M Sidewinder, a pair of AIM-120B AMRAAM air-to-air missiles, and 511 20mm M70 rounds for the M61A1 Vulcan cannon.
