The latest Aerial Firefighting North America conference at McClellan Field in Sacramento, California, saw the Coulson-Unical Air joint venture debut its CH-47 Chinook N40CU. It is the only heavy helicopter delivery system that can carry an internal 3,000 US gal (11,336 litres) load for firefighting. Modified from CH-47D 89-0169, the aircraft features a RADS-L touchscreen tank control system with onboard diagnostics, a GPS speed and radar altimeter and night-vision goggle-compatible synthetic vision technology.
