The Preservation profile on Auster J/l Autocrat ZK-AUX brought back many memories of days at Bowling Green Lane around the time that Temple Press bought G-AERO. I was on the editorial staff there throughout the time the Autocrat was the company “hack” - writing for The Aeroplane Spotter until mid-1948 and thereafter for The Aeroplane. It is interesting to identify the five occupants of G-AERO depicted by Chris Wren in his Oddentification cartoon (although, of course, the Autocrat could only carry three - two side-by-side with dual controls and an uncomfortable little seat athwartships in the rear of the cabin).
