The fourth prototype English Electric Canberra, VN850, at Hucknall, fitted with Rolls-Royce Avon RA.3s. It became the first Canberra to crash when it suffered an engine fire on finals on May 13, 1951.

A range of Avons was tested in Canberra B.2 WD930, which began operating from Hucknall in late August 1951. It had a pair of RA.14s when this portrait was taken, in October 1953.
