A contrast in hangars. One belongs to HMS Argus at the end of World War One. On the left are two Sopwith 2F.1 Camels and behind them the elevator to the flight deck. Beside it is a Sopwith Cuckoo torpedo-bomber and in the background a Short 184 seaplane.

1. Tomahawk I AH762 of No.239 Squadron (uncoded) 2. Tomahawk I AH755 in colours of No.168 Squadron (aircraft was not allotted to this unit) 3. Tomahawk I AH793 of No.239 Squadron 4. Tomahawk IIA of No.26 Squadron 5. Tomahawk IIA with code of No.26 OTU: presumably transferred from attached Bomber Gunnery Training Flight without formal allocation.
Item 4 carries the springbok's head emblem of No.26 Squadron on the white strip of the fin marking, one of the few units carrying such revealing markings, the allocation of code letters being intended to conceal unit identities. The failure to change squadron code letters frequently defeated the object of the exercise but fortunately simplified the identification of photographs for future historians'.Самолёты на фотографии: Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk - США - 1939

Регистрационный номер: S1614 The photo shows a gang of local helpers in front of a Horsley, also at Seletar. Their serial numbers are not known but in the background is S1614 and is obviously NOT a Nimrod as listed. It is another Horsley which throws doubt on the division between the Horsley and Nimrod batches between S1597 and S1639.

Mr. D.R.Neate has kindly provided these photographs of Manston and No.500 Squadron's Virginias. The original photographer was a tail gunner with No.500 Squadron and the rear balcony provided an excellent camera perch. The oddly-angled shot was taken from the ground looking up into the open bomb-aiming hatch through to the nose gunring. At the speeds at which a Virginia carried out its bomb-runs, optical panels were unnecessary for the bomb sight.

The forward Boulton-Paul turret mounted between the main spars. This turret was mounted centrally in contrast with the after turret which was offset to starboard, permitting the fitment of four ASV masts without completely fouling the field of fire.
