Presentation Supermarine Spitfire II P8194 Gold Coast I, photographed on April 23, 1941, was delivered to 91 Sqn that year and is representative of the type used by the unit in the Battle of Britain. It later served with Nos 234, 66 and 152 Sqns and 57 OTU, and survived until March 1944.

FINAL BIPLANES: The 805 h.p. Napier Dagger-engined Hawker Hector was the last biplane type to be issued to A.C. Squadrons. Its speed was 187 m.p.h. at 6,500ft. The port gun chute can be seen between the upper and lower exhaust manifolds.
