  • Germany’s standard fighter. The Messerchmitt Me [sic] 109 (1,150 h.p. Daimler Benz DB601 motor), pictured here, is likely to be seen over this country now that the enemy can operate from aerodromes in France. Tests with a captured Me 109 have shown it to have a top speed of 353 m.p.h. but in fighting power it has been proved time and time again to be completely inferior to our Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires.
