Messerschmitt Bf 109E Werknr 1184 “Yellow 10” of 9/JG26 was brought down near Margate, Kent, on August 31, 1940. The pilot was Oblt Franhofer.
Item 55, Bf 109E-4 W/n 1184 crashlanded in a field at Alcombe on Saturday 21 August after being attacked by a Hurricane of No.85 Squadron flown by P/O H.T.Hodgson, who was presumably getting his own back for having been shot down himself earlier that day. Hay has been spread over the wings and tail to conceal the aircraft until it can be examined and moved.
