This D.H. Heron, mounted outside the old terminal, has been painted to represent the aircraft which operated the last commercial service out of Croydon on September 30, 1959.

If any one aircraft encapsulates Croydon Airport in its heyday it is the Handley Page H.P.42. Here G-AAXC Heracles awaits its passengers. It was damaged beyond repair in gales at Whitchurch on March 19, 1940.
