  • Reference to Extract 25.1.46 regarding the two-seat Dornier Do 335 A-12 identified as Air Min 223. The identity Air Min 225 was quoted in the second reference as a single seat Do 335 which suffered an accident at Merville, France on a delivery flight 13.12.45. Since then this photo has come to our attention. It shows a single-seat Do 335 at Lyon-Bron in 1945 with the note "to CEV, Orange". Overpainted code letters seem to be RP+CC although the third letter is suspect. Could this be the aircraft destined to become Air Min 225, or could it even be the Do 335B-2 prototype V13 captured and test flown by the French? Comments please!
The Do 335 shown in our photo the Do 335V-14 built at Mengen in what became the French Occupation Zone of Germany. Quoted by one source as RP+PB, it is given in "Air Enthusiast" 52 as RP+UQ which can'be confirmed by close examination of the original photo. It was later No.1 with the French Air Force. (Do 335V-17, also built at Mengen, became No.2).

  • Регистрационный номер: G-AIDM, YV-P-AEN

Sea Otter G-AIDM was a Saunders-Roe built amphibian converted by Vickers-Armstrongs at Eastleigh in 1947 and sold to the Royal Dutch Shell Group in Venezuela in the same year. It was unique in being rigged as a four-seater with the hatch enlarged to take a stretcher.
Flight January 8th 1948 *p.31 - Had a photo of a Sea Otter G-AIDM which had been converted for survey and exploration work for the Royal Dutch Shell Group and will be based on Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela. It can take 5 passengers and a stretcher. A similar article was in Aeroplane 23.1.48, p.93. (This aircraft has never been positively identified - there were not many Sea Otters built, so what was its pi?)
F: 8.1.48 p. 31: The Sea Otter G-AIDM was quoted by AJJ as c/n 014352, registered 22.8.46 and sold to Venezuela 13.11.47 as YV-P-AEN. The last contract for 100 Sea Otters was not completed, 41 were built with final deliveries in summer 1946. Could G-AIDM have been a partially complete aircraft from this production line? Other possibilities include Saro-built JN192 and JN198 both sold to Vickers-Armstrongs and reconditioned 10.3.47: G-AIDM's CofA date was 23.4.47.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-AEXF, ZS-AHM

Mew Gull G-AEXF was flown back non-stop from Lyon-Bron to Blackbushe by Hugh Scrope 2.7.50. It is shown after overhaul for the flight by Doug Bianchi, not having flown since 1939.
Aeroplane January 2nd 1948 *p.27 - Reference is made to Alex Henshaw's Mew Gull G-AEXF being owned by a Frenchman who wants to sell it for about £900. In Flight 29.4.48 there are further details. It is lying neglected in a backyard, having been sold by Henshaw to a Frenchman in July 1939. It was dismantled and hidden during the war. The owner died last year and the Mew Gull is being sold by Mr.Drapier, 2 Rue de Toulon, Lyons.
A: 2.1.48 p.27: Reference to Archive p.90/99 shows the French owner of G-AEXF to be Victor Vermorel who died in 1945 rather than 1947 (?)
