Регистрационный номер: G-AIXN The Benes Mraz Sokol prototype OK-ZHA (photo) was a two-seater but the M1C three-seat version was developed and built in substantial numbers. Examples went to France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria as well as to home buyers in Czechoslovakia. One came onto the British register as G-AIXN c/n 112 and the photograph shows some wrinkling of the ply covering at a late stage in its career.

One hundred were ordered by Frits Diepen Vliegtuigen in May 1946 and a production line set up but sadly only 21 were built and not all of them flew. The twin on the left of the photograph is not identified but may mock up of the S.13?

Регистрационный номер: G-ASTT The Sokol had an orthodox tailwheel undercarriage but its successor, the all-metal L40 Meta-Sokol, had a "reversed tricycle" undercarriage. This had a long-leg tailwheel moved forward under the mid fuselage. This gave a level ground attitude like a tricycle but it did not have the tricycle's "run straight" properties and it could ground loop like any other tailwheeler. It sold quite well and there were eight on the British register including G-ASTT c/n 150908.
