In response to our request for photos of unusual locations we have received the view of Kilura Road Airport, Dar es Salaam, taken in August 1949 by John Pike. Visible are four Dragon Rapides, with VP-KCV and VP-KFH identifiable, a Lodestar and a Dove, all operated by East African Airways, and Consul VR-TAU of United Air Services which operated from Dar es Salaam. The airfield itself was built over long ago.

The photo from Charles Cain's collection shows a Latecoere 286 No.961 of Aviacion Nacional Venezolana with "No.1 Mariscal Sucre" below the windows but no registration. We assume it to be a factory shot of YV-ABA but can anyone confirm this and add any details of the subsequent history of the aircraft? If we are wrong why is it unmarked?
