This camouflaged Nieuport 27 is N5857 - but not the RNAS one! It is presumably the production number but are the aircraft French or Italian?

Mr. R.H. Barker found the remains of Sea Hornet TT187 in the playground of Paradise Road School, Plymouth, sometime after January 1959. The school building was also rather battered, this time from German bombs.

Canadian Vickers built the RCAF's Vedettes mainly for fire-spotting but they carried civil registrations. The "WI" on the rear hull shows this to be Vedette VA G-CYWI and it has a Lynx engine, later replaced by a Wright J-6. It is photographed the day after its first flight in this form on 8 May 1930.
