  • Регистрационный номер: G-ABFV   [2]

G-ABFV was one of several Puss Moths owned by the Prince of Wales.
The Prince of Wales' G-ABFV c/n 2122 has everything; metal propeller, spats, enlarged fin and rudder, tailwheel and automatic slots. A slat-angle quadrant can be seen under the port wing, a strange feature unless it was only fitted for trials, as the pilot is concerned with the IAS, not the slat angle.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-ABHB, X9405

Surrey Flying Services' G-ABHB c/n 2113 at Croydon with early small fin and rudder, metal prop and wingtip navigation lights. It was to be impressed on 4.4.40 as X9405, but after a forced landing in a field in bad visibility it failed to clear the boundary hedge on take-off and was written off 3.11.40.

  • Towards the end of 1930 (but before the additional wing strut was installed on production) photographs were released of an aircraft without registration called 'the 1931 Puss Moth' - as seen on the cover of Archive 3/97. It has the new larger fin and taller rudder and the low-pressure tyres are part of the new Dunlop 'Airwheels' with Bendix pneumatic brakes.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-ABKZ, DR607

G-ABKZ c/n 2132 survived wartime operation as DR607 and is seen at Southend postwar. By this time it had a 130 hp Gipsy Major engine, identifiable by its forward carburetter intake. It flew only three more years and was wfu 10.5.44 when its C of A expired.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-ABIY

G-ABIY c/n 2134 was used by Portsmouth, Southsea and loW Aviation as an air taxi. It is seen here carrying race no.40, possibly when taking part in the King's Cup Race in July 1931 flown by L M J Balfour. This view shows well the Puss Moth's slightly tapered mainplanes and blunt wingtips which were easily distinguished from the full span taper of the wings of the later Leopard Moth.

  • A close-up of the 1931 Puss Moth with the door open and the tail up on a trestle. De Havillands mentioned a Triplex windscreen and an optional clear vision panel which can be seen open. Just visible is a slot in the side cowl flap to direct cooling air over the oil tank.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-ABFV   [2]

The same aircraft G-ABFV seen on a Royal visit to Barton airport c.32. The Puss Moth has been repainted and has had its spats removed. It had changed ownership by 9.31 so this visit must have been earlier than supposed.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-ABHC, NZ590, ZK-AEV

G-ABHC c/n 2125 was purchased by the NZPAF who used the c/n as its serial. It was the late model with taller fin and rudder now standard on production aircraft. It became ZK-AEV and was impressed as NZ590 with 4 others in 1939 but did not survive the war.
