A rare wartime colour photograph Spitfire FR.IXs of 16 Sqn at Brussels-Melsbroek in October 1944, wearing the squadron’s pink photo-recce finish. Clearly the original scheme was quite a bit paler than today’s depiction, consisting probably of just a dash of roundel red stirred into a pot of white paint.
