Hurricane L1917 wiped off its main undercarriage and tailwheel in a forced landing at Chingford. It survived, only to be written off in another forced landing on the beach near Jurby in May 1944.

Hurricane L1551 of No 111 Squadron forced-landed at Ickenham, Middlesex, on May 19, 1938. It was sufficiently damaged to be relegated for use as instructional airframe 2307M.

Gloster Aircraft built the Monospar ST-3 G-AARP which flew in 1931 with two 50 h.p. Salmson radial engines. Its success prompted the formation of General Aircraft Ltd.

The uncovered Monospar ST-3 G-AARP outside the Gloster factory at Brockworth, where it was built.
The ST-3, seen here in skeletal form, was the first complete aircraft to take the Monospar wing and was built by Gloster at Brockworth. Danish-born Helmuth Stieger’s concept was to use a simple Warren-braced form of girder to create a mainspar that would resist bending and torsion by means of a system of lightweight bracing.
