ASTA (GAF) Nomad Missionmaster и Searchmaster
Фирма "Government Aircraft Factories" (GAF), переименованная в 1986 году в "AeroSpace Technologies of Australia Pty Ltd" (ASTA) и в 1995 году проданная американской корпорации "Rockwell", была основным производителем самолетов в Австралии. Поскольку спрос на военные самолеты был ограниченным, GAF решила разработать небольшой турбовинтовой самолет с укороченным взлетом и посадкой (УКВП), пригодный как для военного, так и для гражданского рынка.
Проектирование началось в конце 1960-х годов, и первые два прототипа GAF N2 Nomad поднялись в воздух 23 июля 1971 года. Самолет Nomad представлял собой подкосный высокоплан. Характеристики УКВП обеспечивались использованием двухщелевых закрылков по всему размаху и зависающих элеронов. Силовая установка состояла из двух ТВД Allison с винтами изменяемого шага и постоянного числа оборотов.
Первой версией Nomad стал гражданский N22, способный перевозить до 12 пассажиров. Затем последовал N24 для гражданского и военного применения. Он имел удлиненный на 1,14 м фюзеляж, вмещавший 17 пассажиров. Другие серийные версии включали N22B с увеличенной массой (на 14 пассажиров) и усовершенствованный N24A. Поплавковый гидроплан N22F, получивший имя Floatmaster, прошел сертификацию в США в 1979 году, а амфибийный вариант был сертифицирован в 1980-м. Nomad не сумел завоевать рынок, и производство этого семейства прекратилось в 1984 году после постройки 170 самолетов. Около половины из них были поставлены в варианте Nomad Missionmaster (четыре узла подвески под крылом и люк в полу кабины) вооруженным силам Австралии, Индонезии, Папуа-Новой Гвинеи, Филиппин и Таиланда. 25 австралийских машин были сняты с вооружения в 1995 году из-за высокой аварийности и проблем с прочностью крыла. Последние 20 самолетов продали Индонезии.
Морской патрульный самолет ASTA (GAF) Nomad Searchmaster является специализированным вариантом Missionmaster. Он выпускался в двух модификациях - Nomad N22 Searchmaster В для патрулирования прибрежных вод и Nomad N22 Searchmaster L. Последний представлял собой усовершенствованный Searchmaster В с антенной радара в обтекателе под носовой частью фюзеляжа. Он имел две подмодификации: Searchmaster LI с радаром APS-504(V)2 и Searchmaster LII с усовершенствованным радаром APS-504(V)5 и инфракрасной системой переднего обзора. Самолеты Searchmaster были проданы Индонезии, Маршалловым островам, Папуа-Новой Гвинее, Филиппинам и Таиланду.
