Регистрационный номер : RH826 [2] The two 2,470 h.p. Bristol Centaurus radial engines of Brigand I RH826 dominate this photograph. The aircraft is pictured at RAF St Athan, where it was awaiting collection in December 1951. The 72ft 4in-span Brigand, the RAF's last piston-engined attack aircraft, entered service as a light ground-attack bomber in early 1949, with 84 Sqn at Habbaniya, Iraq. Most of the 143 Brigands delivered to the RAF served with Nos 8, 45 and 84 Sqns.

Регистрационный номер : VS813 Brigand I VS813 at RAF Changi, Singapore at the start of a reverse ferry flight to the UK - May 5, 1952, pilot Richard Livermore. Note the rocket rails and long-range fuel tank used for operations against the bandits in Malaya. Delivered to the RAF during the first half of 1949, this Brigand ended up with the Signals School in March 1958.

Регистрационный номер : RH804 Brigand T.4 RH804 awaiting collection at RAF St Athan in December 1951. The T.4 was used for initial instruction of radar navigators for night-fighter duties. To this purpose a radar scanner was mounted in the nose and the rear cockpit could be blacked out.

Delivered to the RAF during the latter part of 1949, this Brigand saw service with 8 Sqn at Khormaksar. This squadron flew Brigands until February 1953, when it re-equipped with Vampire FB.9s.

Регистрационный номер : RP232 [2] Another view of Buckmaster I RP232 taken at RAF Manston in July 1949. Powered by two 2,520 h.p. Bristol Centaurus VII radial engines, the Buckmaster had a maximum speed of around 350 m.p.h. at 12,000ft and an initial climb rate of 2,245ft/min.
