    KLM's Douglas DC-2 PH-AKK Koetilang. The type was KLM’s first all-metal airliner and in 1934 was the first aircraft to introduce stewardesses. KLM was also the first European airline to operate the DC-2, and later became the first to put the DC-3 into European service. Introduced into KLM service in April 1935, PH-AKK was destroyed by bombing at Schiphol airport on May 5, 1940.

    Air France’s Bloch 220 F-AOHE Aunis, which operated the first Paris - Croydon service of the type, on March 27, 1938, replacing the company's Wibault 283Ts. Powered by two 915 h.p. Gnome-Rhone radial engines, the Bloch 220 first flew in December 1935. Air France took delivery of the first 220s in late 1937. F-AOHE was later converted to a 221 with the installation of Wright Cyclone engines. After the war the aircraft operated with the Societe Auxiliaire de Navigation Aerienne.

    Avio Linee Italiane Fiat G.18 V I-EURE parked in a Croydon hangar. Powered by two 1,000 h.p. Fiat A.80 radial engines, the G.18 entered service in 1937 and began flying to Croydon in June 1938.

    Savoia Marchetti S.73 OO-AGT, built by SABCA in Belgium in 1936-37 and operated by Sabena. Powered by three Mistral Major engines, the type replaced Fokker F. VIIb-3ms on the Brussels - Belgian Congo route in October 1936.

    Short L.17 G-ACJK Syrinx, a land-plane version of the Short Kent flying-boat ordered in 1933 by Imperial Airways, who found themselves with a shortage of landplanes on their Continental routes. G-ACJK, the second of two L.17s built, was first flown in May 1934 and was delivered to Imperial Airways on June 7; it flew initially on the Croydon-Paris route. Following major damage after being blown over at Brussels in November 1935, Syrinx was re-engined with four 660 h.p. Bristol Pegasus XC engines. This grand old biplane was scrapped at Exeter in 1940.
