A close-up of 224 Sqn Shackleton MR.1A WB852. Coded. B-T, the aircraft was issued to the squadron in April 1952. It later transferred to 269 Sqn and ceased flying in 1958. It was sold for scrap in May 1963.

Shackleton MR.I WB846 was first flown on November 14, 1951. It was issued to 224 Sqn in February 1952 but was transferred to 120 Sqn in August 1954. It was withdrawn from flying in 1958 but soldiered on as an instructional airframe at Kinloss, as 7561M, until it was scrapped.

Shackleton MR.2 WL753 was first flown on March 16, 1953, and was issued to 224 Sqn in May the following year. In 1957 it flew on a tour of South America and in 1960 was issued to 37 Sqn. Following service with Nos 203 and 204 Sqns, WL753 was finally sold for scrap in 1969.
