Регистрационный номер : LV857 Like Sgt Clowes’s aircraft, this Halifax was shot down over Germany. Halifax III LV857 had been in service only weeks when it failed to return from a raid on Nuremberg after being damaged by a night-fighter on March 31, 1944. The 51 Sqn aircraft crashed at Schwarzbach.

RAF Tholthorpe with Halifaxes in 1944. Starting in August 1940 as a satellite for RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Tholthorpe opened as a heavy bomber station in June 1943.
