The fuselage of the RAF Museum's Short Sunderland V, ML824, on the final leg of its journey from Pembroke Dock to Hendon, on March 22, 1971. Built at Belfast for the RAF in 1944 as a Sunderland III, ML824 spent its latter operational years with the French Aeronavale until it was withdrawn from service in 1960. It was presented to the Sunderland Trust and flown to Pembroke Dock on March 24, 1961. Ten years later it was taken by ship to Dagenham, Essex, and from there was transported by road to Hendon, where it was displayed outside the RAF Museum before being moved into the Battle of Britain Museum.

  • H. Ottens writes from Holland with a photo from the Dutch magazine Vliegwereld, published on February 1, 1943. The aircraft is said to be a Horten design, but it is not included in the book Nurflugel which contains all known Horten types. It is assumed that Vliegwereld was censored by the German occupation authorities, so what was this aircraft?
