Britten-Norman BN-2A Mk III Trislander

Aurigny re-registered one of its Trislanders as G-JOEY after a character in a series of children's books.
G-JOEY, Aurigney's most famous Trislander, was retired from service in June 2015.
Delivered to Aurigny in March 1976, G-BDTO previously wore TSB and Royal Bank of Scotland liveries, and is one of the carrier's last three Trislanders.
Two Aurigny Trislanders, G-BDTO and G-RLON, received SB 190 maintenance checks last year to enable them to continue flying until retirement.
At its inception Air Seychelles operated a couple of Britten-Norman Trislanders on the inter-island routes, one of which is seen getting airborne from the airstrip at Praslin, the second largest island.

A close look at the photograph will reveal that all is not well. This South African registered Trislander was being demonstrated at the Aviation Africa ’77 display at Lanseria last October, and failed to recover from a stall turn. In this case the pilot was lucky, and our picture shows the Trislander airborne after its bounce but minus main undercarriage, door and port engine and with the starboard engine hanging vertically from its bearers. The pilot managed to keep the aircraft more or less straight and level, despite the damaged tailplane, and the resulting crash landing caused the tail-mounted engine to rip off and fall through the rear fuselage. The pilot was injured, but the aircraft presumably was a write-off. It is not for us to question the validity of aerobatting such an aircraft.
